Dragonforce

| September 24th, 2009

So, I discovered Dragonforce a couple of months ago because my friend Emma and I were playing Guitar Hero 3, and I noticed the name and decided to investigate. I’m glad I did, because they really are epic. True, a lot of their stuff sounds the same, but what they play is pretty amazing. Lightning-fast guitar solos FTW.

Anyway, yesterday I got myself a ticket to go and see then at the Barrowlands here in Glasgow, this December. So far I’ve yet to convince a friend to come along (I have a couple of interested parties, though),but I am brining along a very sharp knife with which to cut off Herman Li’s fingers if I manage to get close enough. I want to replace my fingers with his so I can use his guitar skillz to power my way to rock history!

(I’m just kidding, of course :P)

I should be uploading quite a few, I’m quite into customising my theme at the moment :P

My “WANT.” list

| September 11th, 2009

So, everyone has a list of things that they want, myself included, so I thought I’d post mine up here as a sort of checklist. It’s mostly techy, but there are a few odd things in there :P

  1. Silver Tip Badger Hair shaving brush. I used my Dad’s shaving brush today, and now I want one of my own :P Best quality, ofc.
  2. Always Innovating Touchbook. This thing looks awesome, and I don’t think I have enough ARM processors in my life!
  3. Nokia N900. It’ll either be this or the Touchbook, I think, because I’ll never afford both. But this thing sure looks awesome :D
  4. Xbox 360. Yes, yes, Microsoft is the devil and all. But I want one, everyone I know has one so if I want online play I’ll have to have one :P I’ll see what everyone has when I’m at University before I make up my mind, though.
  5. A tin of Altoids. Apparently they make these things in the UK! Can’t find them anywhere, though. Have to ship them in from the States.
  6. Cut-throat razor. Just for the hell of it!
  7. A shirt from shirt.woot. I think I’ve chosen one from the reckoning page, but it’s always worth checking every day!

I think that’s about it! I’ll be checking these off and adding more on as get/want them :)

–INSERT START MAKING MORE POSTS POST–

This blog was mainly supposed to be about my explorations with Linux. But I feel like widening the topic to just about anything because I don’t explore Linux enough to make posts :P

Perhaps this’ll give me something to blog about :P

Happy Easter + Other Stuff

| April 13th, 2009

Happy Easter to you all! Although I don’t believe in God or his minions I DO believe in chocolate, and hence the eggs! :D

I haven’t really been up to much recently, as I have exams coming up in May and I’ve been working hard for them!

Here are a couple ideas I’ve been toying with, though:

  • A webcomic syndicator. It would download a list of comics, the image locations, and download them to .program-name/comic-name, where they would be easily viewable, perhaps through the same program. This may, however, take up too much space =P
  • A desktop wheel. When changing workspace, the desktop spins round, somewhat like a CD.

I have no idea how to pull them off, though. Take ‘em if you want :]

Yet another new theme

| March 16th, 2009

This time looking like bash. I’m very happy with it, I don’t think I’ll change it again. I also added a new favicon =]

New theme

| February 23rd, 2009

I thought the old one was too cluttered, so I picked the most minimalist one I could find. And now, widgets display correctly! I think I have found a winner with this skin.

I love the way the “n” in linux and the “l” in blog join together. Completely unintended, but an awesome effect!

Been messing about with PHP

| February 22nd, 2009

And I’ve come up with a new little website! You can see it at http://c6h12o6.co.uk.

It’s pretty much full valid xHTML which also uses PHP includes, and I’ve been using it as a testbed for learning things like CSS (mostly the syntax, I was always able to modify it). Next up is a testbed for Javascript, methinks. Or some more PHP.

With other news, I’ve blocked all email addresses with AOL because I was hit by a spambot (and probably from a botnet, there were a million different IPs), so sorry if you are a legitimate user :/ You can always register an email with Google or whatever.I’ve also added reCaptcha, which I find to be an easyish one (I normally fail at them!) :P

Aside from all this, I haven’t done too much with Linux. I did, however, set up a music streaming server over the local network, so there might be a tutorial in the works for that.

Well, welcome I suppose

| January 2nd, 2009

Hello :) I suppose I should say what this website is about. As you can see, it is currently a default wordpress installation, sans default entry. I intend it to talk about my travails with Linux, more specifically Ubuntu.

So perhaps I should start by telling you a bit about myself? Well I am 16, male, and have long hair. My interests include computing, gaming, and reading. All pretty standard perhaps.
